Tyler Teichert
With an exclusive focus on Family Law, Tyler represents clients in all aspects of divorce and separation, including parenting, support and property division. He also routinely represents clients in entering into marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements.

Divorce and Separation
Providing legal guidance through the separation/divorce process, including the negotiation and settlement of parenting, support and property division issues.
Child Support
Determining the appropriate amount of child support payable based on the parenting arrangements, number of children, the incomes of the parties, and the relevant provincial or federal Child Support Guidelines.
Parenting
Addressing all parenting issues, including decision-making terms, formerly referred to as 'custody.' Additionally, deriving and drafting appropriate parenting schedules, including regular and holiday plans, that meet the needs of your family and your children.
Property Division
Ascertaining the fair division of marital property, known as the equalization of net family properties. Trust claims and post-separation adjustment claims are also considered, when appropriate.
Relocation/Mobility
Representing clients that are seeking to relocate or move with the children, or clients who are responding to such claims brought by the other parent.
Spousal Support
Determining whether a party has a spousal support entitlement, and if so, assistance in determining the duration and quantum of any spousal support payable.
Routes to Resolution
There are several routes available to resolve family law issues. Teichert Family Law will take the time to understand your specific situation, and will assist you in selecting the best path forward, including:
Negotiation
Due to cost, litigation should always be considered a last resort. Negotiation is often the first path to consider, where the parties negotiate outside of court, either with or without counsel, in efforts to resolve their family law issues. If a resolution is reached, the terms are formalized into a domestic contract, such as a separation agreement.

Mediation/Arbitration
If negotiation is not appropriate or is unsuccessful, parties often consider alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation or mediation/arbitration. In these separate processes, a neutral third-party with specialized training assists the parties in reaching a settlement voluntarily (mediation), or by granting the third-party the authority to decide an issue (arbitration).
Litigation
While court may not always be the quickest or the most cost-effective manner to resolve family law issues, it is sometimes required where one party is unreasonable or unresponsive.
Unbundled Services
Legal services for specific tasks, including document preparation or consultation, allowing clients to handle parts or all of their family law matter at a lower cost.
