Tyler Teichert
With an exclusive focus on Family Law, Tyler represents clients in all aspects of divorce and separation, including parenting, support and property division. He also routinely represents clients in entering into marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements.
With a compassionate approach, Tyler provides clear advice and effective representation in family law matters. He is skilled in resolving these matters outside of court in a private and dignified fashion. That said, he also has extensive experience in resolving these matters in litigation, when required. Tyler’s goal is to assist you in achieving the best outcome for you and your loved ones, in a cost-effective manner.
About Tyler
Tyler has exclusively practiced family law over the last decade. Prior to starting Teichert Family Law, Tyler worked at several reputable boutique family law firms within the GTA. He honed his negotiation and litigation skills working under some of the most respected family lawyers in the GTA.
Tyler was fortunate to find his passion for family law early on in his legal studies. In his first year of law school, he volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada’s Family Law Project, drafting family court documents for self-represented litigants who could not afford a lawyer. He found great satisfaction helping people navigate the complex, and often confusing, family law system, which prompted him to become the Program Coordinator.
Since his call to the Bar in 2015, Tyler has worked with clients in all aspects of divorce and separation, including parenting, support, and property division. Tyler has polished his advocacy skills through his extensive court experience, advocating for clients at countless conferences, motions, and several trials. While Tyler enjoys the competitive nature of litigation, he recognizes that court should be considered a last resort. Families are often best served through alternative dispute resolution, where their matters can be resolved in a private, dignified, and cost-effective manner. Tyler routinely assists clients in attending mediations, arbitrations, and in negotiating and drafting separation agreements, marriage contracts, and cohabitation agreements.
Before attending law school at Western University, Tyler was a professional horse trainer and competed at the national level throughout Canada and the United States. He learned that the key to success in a client-focused field is effective communication. He continues to apply this principle to his family law practice, taking the time to truly listen to his clients and understand their situations, their goals and their concerns. He prides himself in providing a non-judgmental, sensitive approach in all communications, while ensuring that his clients fully understand the process and their options.
Outside of work, Tyler enjoys an active lifestyle, playing competitive volleyball, and exploring the outdoors with his dog, Louie.
